Warren Beard FFA / Ag Teacher

I grew up in Red Rock, Texas and graduated from Bastrop High School.  I then attended Southwest Texas State University where I majored in Agriculture Education and minored in Psychology.  I graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with certification to teach.

For 19 years I taught all areas of Agriculture Education in various parts of the state (in order):  Cuero, Needville, Snyder, Lake Travis and Hondo. I have trained numerous FFA State events including Parliamentary Procedure, Creed Speaking, Dairy Cattle (Champion), Poultry, Ag Mechanics, Tractor Technician, Wildlife, Livestock, Horse, Cotton, Wool, Ag Sales, and Public Speaking.  I have been the Advisor to Texas FFA State President Logan West, and numerous Area and District Officers.  I served as the Area 7 Ag Teachers Association President for 6 years before leaving education.

In 2016, I accepted a position with Purina Animal Nutrition as a Livestock Production Specialist serving Mumme’s, Inc as outside sales representative.  After 19 months, I was brought into the Mumme’s management team as outside sales manager.  Although I conducted numerous workshops and demonstrations for FFA and 4-H members while working for Mumme’s and Purina, I greatly missed the day-to-day interaction with students and the opportunity to teach them about production agriculture.

Since 2005, I have lived just down the road in D’Hanis with my wife, Jill, and three children, Thomas (12th), Brighton (10th) and Peyton (6th) who are all very active in church, academics, sports and stockshows.  I am proudly joining Jill on the Sabinal High School campus where she has taught for 7 years.

I will be working with Mrs. Hayhurst to build a strong, well-rounded and successful Sabinal FFA program!  We will be offering courses in Ag Mechanics, Horticulture, Animal Science, Food Technology and Wildlife!
