Sabinal ISD Hosts Student Safety Fair to Empower Students with Life-Saving Knowledge

On May 7, 2025, Sabinal ISD proudly hosted a Student Safety Fair aimed at equipping students in grades 6–12 with essential safety knowledge and practical skills. The event, organized by Nurse Reyes, brought together professionals from multiple agencies to educate students on real-world topics that impact their well-being.

Students had the opportunity to attend a powerful presentation from DEA Agent Talamantez on the dangers of fentanyl—a critical conversation given the current national opioid crisis. Hands-on experiences included CPR training from CPR San Antonio and first aid demonstrations led by Uvalde EMS. Uvalde Memorial Hospital provided interactive instruction on tourniquet application, while Uvalde County Public Health nurses discussed water safety. CHDI offered valuable insights into behavioral health and immunizations, emphasizing the importance of mental and physical wellness.

One of the most impactful exhibits came from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and TXDOT’s “Rollover Convincer,” which simulated the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt during a car crash.

Sabinal ISD thanks all participating organizations for their involvement and extends special appreciation to Nurse Reyes for coordinating a meaningful and memorable event focused on keeping our students informed and safe.
