Following the tragedy at Robb elementary, a local firearm instructor and range master offered free handgun training as well as providing the License to Carry course this summer for all Sabinal ISD employees in an attempt to help protect students and staff in Sabinal ISD. This effort is one of many safety and security protocols and procedures being added to the existing security efforts. The district has also employed an armed law enforcement officer who will work undercover within the campuses. Sabinal PD will be providing random walk-throughs inside the campuses daily. Warning signs are being placed near exterior school doors stating that staff may be armed and willing to protect the lives of the students and staff.
